Computer City
(Painting finished property of Camile McGregor, December 27, 2017, acrylic)
City streets
The suit and tie place
Money hungry smiles
Talking to our inter-space
That is what’s worthwhile
Shiny shoes in the rain
Walls built of rust
Umbrella held of shame
Stop this, we must
We are connected
Surrounded, yet alone,
Our nature’s infected
up to our jawbone
We are addicted
To computer screens
We are afflicted
With internet dopamine
We are empty
streets of disunity
crowded with blame
in this place
we called community
we must stop this game
Faces of
blank welcomes,
and frozen shoulders,
never free
a briefcase
of city venom
You call this empathy?
We are connected
Surrounded, yet alone,
Our nature’s infected
up to our jawbone
We are addicted
To computer screens
We are afflicted
With internet dopamine
